Coomera Vet Team

The Vet Lounge have great team of veterinarians and veterinary nurses who provide vet care to the Coomera community.  For over 10 years The Vet Lounge have been looking after pets in the Coomera area keeping them healthy with their annual check-up and being there for them at times of unexpected illnesses or trauma. Our vet team have a variety of special interests, are dedicated and genuinely care about your pet’s health.

Dr Robert Auricht

Veterinarian

Who is Rob when he’s not being a vet?

Outside of work Rob loves to spend his time with family and friends. He also likes to wind down by enjoying a good movie or book or by getting outdoors and doing some gardening. 

Education

Rob graduated with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science in 1983. He is a member of various associations including the European Society of Veterinary Orthopaedics and Traumatology, World Association of Laser Therapists and The Association of Internal Fixation to name a few.

Rob is also an accredited Stem Cell Practitioner and an Accredited PennHIP Member.

Special Interests

Currently Rob’s special interests include laser therapy (laser biomodulation) and laser surgery as well as soft tissue and orthopaedic surgeries. 

Dr Tamara Beasley

Veterinarian

 Who is Tamara when she’s not being a vet?

Outside of work Tamara enjoys travelling. Her favourite experience was working with elephants in Changmai in Thailand. Tamara also loves heading out on the boat on weekends fishing and is obsessed with Dachshunds.

Education

Tamara graduated with honours from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science.

Special Interests

Dr Tamara is a GP vet which means she is interested in all things general practice. She also has a special interest in canine reproduction.

Dr Winnie Mok

Veterinarian

 Who is Winnie when she’s not being a vet?

Outside of work, Winnie loves to spend time with her family and friends. She is quite the foodie, and enjoys trying new restaurants, cooking different cuisines and experimenting with new dessert and cake recipes. She also loves creating jewellery and other crafty projects. Since Covid, she’s become a plant enthusiast, and has started collecting exotic plants.

Education

Winnie graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Zoology. She then moved up to Queensland and studied Veterinary Science at the University of Queensland, graduating with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science with Honours in 2001.

Special Interests

Winnie’s areas of interest include veterinary dentistry and working with clients to implement achievable dental hygiene plans for their pets, acupuncture and soft tissue surgery.

Dr Fiona Mok

Veterinarian

Who is Fiona when she’s not being a vet?

Fiona is fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin. Outside of work, Fiona and her husband are busy parents to her 6 year old daughter and 4 year old son. She is also a proud pet parent to a 10 year old Budgerigar named Hamish. If she isn’t chasing after the two human energizer bunnies, she actively serves at her church. She relaxes by watching Asian and Sci Fi dramas, going horseriding (when she can) and converting her garden into something more friendly for the native wildlife.

Education

Fiona grew up and attended all her schooling years in Brisbane. She graduated from the University of Qld with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (Honours) in 2007. Since her graduation, she has worked in various practices in Brisbane, Logan and Ipswich as a small animal general practitioner with a brief stint in mixed animal practice early in her career.

Special Interests

Fiona loves the variety and challenge that GP practice brings. Her particular interest lies in medicine – whether small animal or simple avian and exotic pet medicine. She is also interested in dermatology and dentistry. Keeping with the motto – “prevention is better than cure”, she prefers to catch problems early on to make sure all pets will have the best quality of life possible well into their golden years.  

Dr Caitlin Ghent

Veterinarian

Who is Caitlyn when she’s not being a vet?

In her spare time Caitlin loves getting out on the water to stand up paddle board. She is also currently learning to play the ukulele!

Education

Caitlin graduated from James Cook University in 2018 with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science.

Special Interests

Caitlin is passionate about all aspects veterinary care however she is particularly interested in emergency and internal medicine.

Dr Madeline Ricca

Veterinarian

Who is Madeline when she’s not being a vet?
Outside of work Madeline enjoys spending time with her friends and family, especially when it involves good food and coffee. She also loves relaxing with her dog and birds while binging a good Netflix series.

Education
Madeline graduated from The University of Queensland in 2019 with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (Honours).

Special Interests
Madeline loves all things related to being a small animal GP vet, from puppy and kitten vaccinations through to keeping pets comfortable in their golden years. She also has a special interest in birds and enjoys working with their owners to give them enriched, healthy lives. 

Dr Sophie Colonna

Veterinary Manager

Who is Sophie when she’s not being our veterinary manager?

Sophie is fluent in English and French and has a wide vocabulary in Czech. She recently returned from living overseas for 2 years with her family (one year in Czech and one year in France)! Sophie has a keen interest in the property and stock markets and is a big lover of horses — she’s been active in Pony Clubs for many years.

Education

Sophie graduated from Murdoch University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science. She also holds a Diploma in Veterinary Practice Management.

Special Interests

Having been a vet nurse, dog groomer, veterinarian, practice owner, practice manager, HR manager, veterinary consultant and leading veterinary surgeon, Sophie has a wide understanding of all the moving parts that make up a veterinary practice. She is particularly passionate about improving efficiencies and developing procedures to ensure high quality service and standards of care are provided to all patients and clients. She is also passionate about staff satisfaction and making our practice an awesome place to work!

Candice Goring

Reception/Boarding Manager & Vet Nurse

Who is Candice when she’s not being a vet nurse?

Outside of work Candice and her husband are busy being parents to 2 gorgeous boys, Isaac (4) and Levi (6 months) and 2 fur babies, Bailey the Border Collie and Chase the ginger DSH ninja.

Education

Candice has a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing as well as a Certificate II in Frontline Management. She has over 15 years’ experience in small animal clinics, 10 of which were spent in Head Nurse and Practice Management positions.

Special Interests

Candice enjoys building strong relationships with clients and focusing on providing gold standard pet care service. She has a special interest in pet nutrition and is passionate about educating clients on effective dental home care plans to prevent dental disease. Candice also has a keen interest in business health, pet advocacy and she has a big soft spot for Border Collies (especially chocolates, reds and merles)!

Brooke Murray

Hospital Manager & Surgical Nurse

Who is Brooke when she’s not being a vet nurse?

Brooke grew up in Cairns but made the move to the beautiful Gold Coast in January 2017. In her spare time she loves listening to music (she knows the lyrics to practically every song), spending time with her family and friends, her two Shih Tzu x Poodles, BJ and Maisy and her cat Tickles.

Education

Brooke started Vet Nursing in 2013. She completed her Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2015 through the Animal Industries Resource Centre.

Special Interests

Brooke loves all aspects of nursing but her favourite part of the job is looking after the animals in hospital, ensuring they are happy and comfortable during their stay.

Sarah Bedford

Vet Nurse

Who is Sarah when she’s not being a vet nurse?

Sarah owns a collection of animals and has a special interest in birds and reptiles. In her spare time, Sarah likes spending quality time with her family and also enjoys playing netball.

Education

Sarah has a Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing and 19 years’ experience in the veterinary industry. She is a well recognised long term employee, she’s been with The Vet Lounge since we first opened!

Special Interests

Sarah has a special interest in birds and reptiles and enjoys surgical nursing. She is also a multi award winning bandage designer for all patients undergoing orthopaedic procedures at The Vet Lounge.

Andy Watts

Vet Nurse

Who is Andy when she’s not being a vet nurse?

Andy loves to spend her free time with her husband and her young son. She has two dogs – one very unique mutt, one Springer Spaniel and she also has two Burmese cats.

Education

Andy holds a Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing. She has worked as a vet nurse since 2015. Prior to this Andy worked in a dog and cat boarding facility.

Special Interests

Andy loves to ensure all patients get extra love and cuddles. She also has a special interest in dog behaviour and training.

Melanie Pilt

Vet Nurse

Who is Melanie when she’s not being a vet nurse?

Melanie loves to spend her spare time gardening and is a lover of indoor plants. Melanie also enjoys immersing herself in good book, listening to rap music and having Sing Star battles. Melanie has two beautiful daughters as well as two dogs, Elliot and Bindi, who also keep her busy outside of work.

Education

Melanie has a Cert III in Vet Nursing and has been working as a Vet Nurse since 1992. She has a wealth of knowledge and loads of nursing experience under her belt! 

Special Interests 

Melanie adores cats and dogs and thoroughly enjoys surgical nursing. 

Taylar Mormile

Vet Nurse

Who is Taylar when she’s not being a vet nurse?

Taylar loves horse riding. Her lifetime goal is to complete the bicentennial national trail on horseback. She also enjoys going away camping on the weekends and exploring new places,  spending time at the beach with her 3 dogs Tilly, Charlie and Bear.

Education

Taylar has Certificate IV in vet nursing and has been in the industry for 5 years

Special Interests 

Taylar loves large animals, emergency and anything surgical related.

Emily Nineham

Vet Nurse

Who is Emily when she’s not being a vet nurse?

Outside of work Emily enjoys spending time with her family and friends, shopping, eating out and watching movies or a good TV series. She has a bit of a green thumb and enjoys tending to her 30 or so indoor plants. Emily also loves spending time playing with her kitten, Moe.

Education

Emily holds a Certificate II in Veterinary Nursing and recently started her Certificate IV. Emily joined The Vet Lounge team last year and has a year’s prior experience when she completed her Certificate II.

Special Interests

Emily loves baby patients and is passionate about kitten and puppy care. She also has a soft spot for senior patients and endeavours to ensure they receive the best care to assit with quality of life.

Charlotte Wilson-Edwards

Vet Nurse

Who is Charlotte when she’s not being a vet nurse?

Charlotte loves spending her spare time outdoors and taking her Kelpie Max for walks along the beach. She’s a lover of animals and has many of her own at home. Along with her dog Max she also has a Bull Terrier named Daisy, three cats, two alpacas, two sheep, chickens, turkeys, ducks and geese!

Education

Charlotte began working in the industry in 2018 and is currently studying her Cert IV in Vet Nursing through Open Colleges. 

Special Interests

Charlotte is extremely passionate about nutrition and enjoys educating clients on the importance of a quality diet to keep their pets healthy. Charlotte is also a huge cat lover and loves taking extra special care of our feline clients.

Ashleigh Neal

Vet Nurse

Who is Ashleigh when she’s not being a vet nurse?

Ashleigh is an animal lover, that loves all creatures great and small! When Ashleigh is not working at The Vet Lounge she is studying and expanding her knowledge, spending time in nature or working at Seaworld as a Marine Animal trainer with seals and little penguins. She also loves spending time with her cats, Lily and Thor.

Education

Ashleigh has previously studied her Certificate III in Animal Studies and Captive Animals through Tafe QLD. She is currently studying her Certificate IV in Vet Nursing through Applied Vocational Training. Ashleigh has previously worked as a Zookeeper for the past three and a half years and has been working as a marine animal trainer for the past few months.

Special Interests

Ashleigh has an interest in surgical nursing. She also has an interest in animal behaviour and training.

Julia Rajahalme

Trainee Vet Nurse

Who is Julia when she is not being a trainee vet nurse?

Julia is a Finnish girl who decided to go on a backpacking trip to Australia for a year and is still on the same trip after nearly ten years! She is now happy to call Australia home. 

Julie loves spending time with animals, she has her own energetic Staffy named Blue, a Toyger cat named Tigger, and a horse named Bruno. Julia enjoys going on long trail rides, being in nature makes her day! She also loves spending time with her partner Daniel and working on projects around their new home. 

Education

Julia graduated from University with a bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management. Still discovering which career path she wanted to go down, Julia also studied to become a Chef and ended up working in hospitality. Her passion for animals later lead her to study to become a professional Riding Tour Guide and has now lead her here to The Vet Lounge to undertake her traineeship in Veterinary Nursing.

Special Interests

Everything in the industry is so new and exciting for Julia but she is generally interested in all domestic animals and learning how to make sure she is providing them with the best possible care. She also loves ensuring our boarding guests have an enjoyable, stress-free stay.
