Dr Michael Woodcock

Veterinarian

 

 Who is Michael when he’s not being a vet?

An Iron Man! Michael competes in Iron Man Triathlons both here and abroad. Ask him what he did on the weekend and he’ll probably tell you casually that he rode 160km on his bike then ran 14km. He’s up at 4.30am training before work too! Michael also loves a good Mocha in the morning.

Education

Michael graduated from the University of Queensland in 1993 with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science.

Special Interests

Michael is an advanced surgeon, able to perform orthopaedic procedures and advanced soft tissue surgeries. He also has loads of experience with Birds & Exotics (snakes, lizards etc) and is a large animal vet. You could say Michael is the ultimate all-round super vet!

Michael has also visited one of the Royal Canin factories overseas and was very impressed with the quality and controls! Michael believes that good nutrition plays a big part in keeping our pets healthy.

Dr Tamara Beasley

Veterinarian

 

 Who is Tamara when she’s not being a vet?

Outside of work Tamara enjoys travelling. Her favourite experience was working with elephants in Changmai in Thailand. Tamara also loves going out on the boat on weekends fishing and is obsessed with Daschunds.

Education

Tamara graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science in 2016.

Special Interests

Tamara is a GP vet which means she is interested in mixed general practice (including large animals). Tamara brings with her all of the latest advances in medical treatments and surgical procedures straight from the specialists!

Dr Shivani Pillai 

Veterinarian

 

 Who is Shivani when she’s not being a vet?

Shivani keeps busy with her dog Riley and her cat Evie. When she’s not with them, she enjoys travelling, crocheting, cafe hopping and tending to her vege patch in the garden. She aslo has a keen interest in board games and has a growing collection at home.

Education

Shinvani graduated from the University of Queensland in 2015 with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science.

Special Interests

Shivani is particularly interested in internal medicine and dermatology.

Dr Susannah Bolte 

Veterinarian

 

 Who is Susannah when she’s not being a vet?

When she is not busy being a vet, Susannah loves competing in fashion shows on the field and making millinery. Susannah also loves grabbing her swag and going camping in the country for the weekend. 

Education

Susannah graduated from James Cook University in 2014 with a Bachelor in Veterinary Science. 

Special Interests

Susannah enjoys anaesthesia and pain management as well as cattle work. 

Dr Tori Young

Veterinarian

 

Who is Tori when she’s not being a vet?

Outside of work Tori loves travelling, reading and spending time with her three dogs and three cats.

Education

Tori graduated from James Cook University in 2016 with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science.

Special Interests

Tori enjoys all aspects of being a Veterinarian but she is particularly interested in internal medicine.

Dr Caitlin Ghent

Veterinarian

 

Who is Caitlyn when she’s not being a vet?

In her spare time Caitlin loves getting out on the water to stand up paddle board. She is also currently learning to play the ukulele! 

Education

Caitlin graduated from James Cook University in 2018 with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science.

Special Interests

Caitlin is passionate about all aspects veterinary care however she is particuarly interested in emergency and internal medicine.

Brooke Murray

Vet Nurse

 

Who is Brooke when she’s not being a vet nurse?

Brooke grew up in Cairns but made the move to the beautiful Gold Coast in January 2017. In her spare time she loves listening to music (she knows the lyrics to practically every song), spending time with her family and friends, her two Shih Tzu x Poodles, BJ and Maisy and her cat Tickles.

Education

Brooke started Vet Nursing in 2013. She completed her Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2015 through the Animal Industries Resource Centre.

Special Interests

Brooke loves all aspects of nursing but her favourite part of the job is looking after the animals in hospital, ensuring they are happy and comfortable during their stay.

Sarah Bedford

Vet Nurse

 

Who is Sarah when she’s not being a vet nurse?

Sarah owns a collection of animals and has a special interest in birds and reptiles. In her spare time, Sarah likes spending quality time with her family and also enjoys playing netball.

Education

Sarah has a Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing and 19 years’ experience in the veterinary industry. She is a well recognised long term employee, she’s been with The Vet Lounge since we first opened!

Special Interests

Sarah has a special interest in birds and reptiles and enjoys surgical nursing. She is also a multi award winning bandage designer for all patients undergoing orthopaedic procedures at The Vet Lounge.

Katreena Craig 

Vet Nurse

 

Who is Katreena when she’s not being a vet nurse?

Katreena enjoys computer gaming, board games, camping, outdoor adventures, travelling, trying new foods and experiences, and spending time with her friends and family (fur babies included). Kat has 2 cats (one is Instagram famous #Stupiagram), a Keeshond, and a Shetland Pony named Hobbit.

Education

Katreena graduated in 2014 with a Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing.

Special Interests

Nurse Kat has spent a fair amount of time in surgical nursing, however she has recently switched to mainly nurse consulting and medical nursing, and she is loving it! Emergency and critical care is also something she aspires to learn in the near future.

Alicia Burtenshaw

Vet Nurse

 

 Who is Alicia when she’s not being a vet nurse?

Alicia has two beautiful dogs which she considers her children. She also has three cats, two birds and the family horse. Alicia enjoys spending time at the family farm, visiting friends, running, the outdoors and loves a good movie.

Education

Alicia holds a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing and has been in the industry for 4.5 years.

Special Interests

Alicia’s special interests are small dogs and internal medicine.

Keely Maidment

Vet Nurse

 

Who is Keely when she’s not being a vet nurse?

Keely likes to spender spare time with her horses. She is trying to get out and compete in dressage but as she is a mum of three beautiful children, this proves difficult at times!

Education

Keely holds a certificate in business and is currently studying her Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing.

Special Interests

Keely has a special interest in equine rehabilitation.

Amber Williams

Vet Nurse

 

Who is Amber when she’s not being a vet nurse?

When Amber isn’t working, she loves spending time with her family and friends and of course her pets. She also enjoys travelling, taking scenic bike rides and stopping for ice cream!

Education

Amber holds a Certificate II in Animal Studies. She is currently completing her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing and has been working at The Vet Lounge for the last 2.5 years.

Special Interests

Amber’s special interests include surgical nursing and making sure patients are comfortable and happy during their day/procedure.

Emily Nineham

Vet Nurse

 

Who is Emily when she’s not being a vet nurse?

Outside of work Emily enjoys spending time with her family and friends, shopping, eating out and watching movies or a good TV series. She has a bit of a green thumb and enjoys tending to her 30 or so indoor plants. Emily also loves spending time playing with her kitten, Moe.

Education

Emily holds a Certificate II in Veterinary Nursing and recently started her Certificate IV. Emily joined The Vet Lounge team last year and has a year’s prior experience when she completed her Certificate II.

Special Interests

Emily loves baby patients and is passionate about kitten and puppy care. She also has a soft spot for senior patients and endeavours to ensure they receive the best care to assit with quality of life.

Renee Barba

Vet Nurse

 

Who is Renee when she’s not being a vet nurse?

Renee loves going to the beach, wake surfing/boarding and being out on the boat. She also loves spending time with her two dogs and three cats, eating Italian food, travelling and discovering unique places around the Gold Coast.

Education

Renee currently holds a Cert II in Veterinary Nursing and is about to commence her Certificate IV. Renee has been in the industry for 3 years.

Special Interests

Renee enjoys advanced surgeries and has a massive soft spot for puppies and kittens. She also has a special interest in reptiles.

Danielle Cudlipp

Vet Nurse

 

Who is Danielle when she’s not being a vet nurse?

When she isn’t nursing, Danielle loves spending time with her dog, finding new walking places, relaxing by the waterfront, eating out (especially anything to do with chocolate or cake!) and getting sucked into a great movie or TV show.

Education

Danielle joined The Vet Lounge Coomera team in 2018 and is currently studying Certificate II in Veterinary Nursing with AIRC.

Special Interests

Danielle loves learning all aspects of nursing but would love to specialise in physiotherapy, particularly for dogs!

Melissa Purton

Veterinary Receptionist

 

Who is Melissa when she’s not being a receptionist?

Outside of work Melissa is a member of the local swim club. She, her husband and a group of their friends swim approximately 2kms twice a week. Mel, her husband and their two kids also enjoy boating and camping in their spare time.

Education

Mel graduated with a Bachelor of Business Hotel Management in 1991. Mel has worked in veterinary reception for over 7 years.

Special Interests

Mel loves her reception role and ensuring clients are well looked after in clinic. She is passionate about all animals and is a great advocate or “voice” for pets.
